If we catch a problem with a fic, we will contact the author and give them a chance to fix it. This will probably mostly be obvious things like coming in under word count or not being tagged with a requested ship.
If a fic is an obvious place holder and the problem is not resolved quickly, the recipient will be sent out to pinch hit and the author will be considered to have defaulted and treated accordingly. (As in not sent out to pinch hit if their own author has defaulted or also sent in something incomplete.)
As for DNW violations, if we happen to catch one we will contact the author to give them a chance to fix it. If they are unable or unwilling to do so, that will also be treated like a default. If someone receives a fic containing a DNW that they point out to us after reveals, we will find them a pinch hitter.
