Id Pro Quo

Thanks to the tremendous efforts of our pinch hitters, everyone who fulfilled their IPQ assignment now has a gift! There will be no further delays.

This is a great time to:

- Check your work for typos and other errors.

- Make sure it fulfills a request and doesn't hit any of your recipient's DNWs.

- Make a treat for a pinch hitter!

Works will be revealed on May 20 at 10 p.m. Eastern Time.

There are still two unclaimed pinch hits, so we're delaying reveals to May 20 at 10 p.m. Eastern Time. Those pinch hits now have an ideal deadline of May 17 at 10 p.m. Eastern Time. If you can pick one up, please do; if you know someone who might, please share the link around.

If you're working on a pinch hit, it's still due on the agreed-upon date (either May 9 or May 10), but you may email to request an extension if you need one.

We're working through the queue right now. Post-deadline pinch hits will be up late tonight or tomorrow. In the meantime, if you've completed your assignment, please consider picking up one of our current pinch hits (the deadline for those is now May 6) or writing a pinch hitter treat.

When you post your work, please make sure:

You're posting it to the Id_Pro_Quo_2024 collection, and not any other AO3 collection.

You've gifted it to the correct recipient.

It's a complete work that matches a requested ship and freeform, and doesn't contain any DNWs.

Mods are checking works only for completeness and matching a request. Leaving out your recipient's DNWs is your responsibility.

We will grant an automatic three-day extension to anyone who requests one (by emailing idficmod@gmail.com) before the deadline. There will be no second extensions. If you can't complete your work by the deadline, please request an extension or default. There's no penalty for defaulting before the deadline (other than no longer being guaranteed a gift), but no-shows and incompletes at the deadline may receive a one-year ban.

We hope everyone is having fun working on their iddy creations! Once you've posted yours, please consider picking up a pinch hit or making a treat for a pinch hitter. Thanks for helping us to stick to our schedule and get everyone their tasty iddy treats on time.

Thanks to all the unmatchables who got back to us quickly. Assignments have been sent out, and 27 initial pinch hits will be posted tomorrow (it takes some time to generate them).

Please remember that this is an anonymous exchange. Don't reveal your assignment to anyone, don't post your work anywhere other than the Id_Pro_Quo_2024 AO3 collection, and don't attempt to contact your recipient directly. If you have questions for your recipient, email them to us at idficmod@gmail.com and we'll pass them along.

The collection is moderated. Don't be surprised if works linger in the queue, especially if you post early; we will likely be approving them in batches.

Signups will close at 10 p.m. Eastern Time today, which is twenty hours from the time on this post.

Now is a great time to:

1) Make yourself matchable. That specifically refers to having an offer that matches someone else's request. Since people can change and delete their signups at the last minute, it's best to find at least two or three people you can create for. If no one is offering what you're requesting, that's fine; you'll go up for pinch hit. But you must be able to create for another participant in order to participate in the exchange.

2) For each individual request, make sure you'd be happy with receiving a work featuring any combination of the ships and freeforms on that request, and any non-DNW'd application of freeform to ship. Don't assume your creator will agree with you on what's "obvious"; if your ST:TOS request has Kirk/Spock and Spock/Uhura along with Plot-Fixing Accidental Pregnancy, your creator might have their heart set on that accidental pregnancy happening to Kirk and/or Spock. If that's what you'd like too, great! If not, you might want to move Spock/Uhura and any pregnancy tags to their own request (and DNW mpreg just in case).

3) Get your DNWs in good shape. That means not having vague or subjective DNWs (like "gross stuff" or "hard kinks") and not having DNWs that unreasonably box in your creator (like "DNW any character being less than seven feet tall") or make it impossible to fulfill your request (like "DNW incest" for a request with an incestuous ship).

4) Make sure any letter hosted elsewhere is complete and visible by the time assignments go out. Letters aren't required, and the information in them isn't binding, but they can be very helpful to your creator if you want to share more information than will fit in the signup form.

IPQ honors Do Not Match requests. Email idficmod@gmail.com before signups close if you want to ask us not to match you with a particular other participant. Please let us know:

• whether it's for creating, receiving, or both
• what you would like us to do if that participant offers to pick up your pinch hit
• what you would like us to do if that participant creates a treat for you
