Hello hello! The post deadline pinch hit deadline has passed, and we still expect to reveal the collection on Sunday, June 22nd at 10pm EDT. We still have one pinch hitter hard at work but their work should be in in the next 24 hours.

We're almost ready to feast on all the wonderful iddy works in the collection - nearly 200 of them! - just make sure to put the finishing touches on before the works reveal deadline. All edits should be complete ahead of works reveals.

The extension deadline has passed, and we have many more works in the collection than we did last week! Congrats to everyone who has posted, and we're cheering on our hard working pinch hitters who are still filling requests.

There were some works that required us to reach out to the creator during works checks (If your AO3 starts with A or a, we have reached out to you regarding an issue with your creation) please check your emails!

We have a number of post extension deadline pinch hits. These will likely arrive tomorrow June 9th, in the North American afternoon. To let pinch hitters have enough time to work on these, we will delay work reveals one week, to June 22nd at 10pm EDT, and likewise, creator reveals to June 29th, 10pm EDT.

Id Pro Quo is a gift exchange for "iddy" fan works: purely self-indulgent creations that make you go zing! in that particular delicious way. Participants will create and receive a completed gift of 2,000+ words of fanfic or a work of individually made fanart.

FAQ

What does "iddy" mean?

See the Fanlore entry for a definition. In brief, id fic and id art are works that resonate with you on a deep level. This feeling can't be denied or suppressed, even if the thing that really gets you going is also something you feel is morally wrong, ridiculous, or not in keeping with how you see yourself. A feminist may get off on women being degraded; a cat fancier may harbor a fondness for dogpeople AUs. The id wants what it wants, and this is an exchange for giving it what it wants.

Iddy creations do not need to be sexually explicit. Maybe your id is deeply invested in drinking tea while autumn rains fall, rescuing abandoned emu chicks, or surreptitiously holding hands. Works of all ratings are welcome in IPQ. However, regardless of what you plan to request or create, you must be 18 or older to participate.

Thanks to the tremendous efforts of our pinch hitters, everyone who fulfilled their IPQ assignment now has a gift! There will be no further delays.

This is a great time to:

- Check your work for typos and other errors.

- Make sure it fulfills a request and doesn't hit any of your recipient's DNWs.

- Make a treat for a pinch hitter!

Works will be revealed on May 20 at 10 p.m. Eastern Time.

When you post your work, please make sure:

You're posting it to the Id_Pro_Quo_2024 collection, and not any other AO3 collection.

You've gifted it to the correct recipient.

It's a complete work that matches a requested ship and freeform, and doesn't contain any DNWs.

Mods are checking works only for completeness and matching a request. Leaving out your recipient's DNWs is your responsibility.

We will grant an automatic three-day extension to anyone who requests one (by emailing idficmod@gmail.com) before the deadline. There will be no second extensions. If you can't complete your work by the deadline, please request an extension or default. There's no penalty for defaulting before the deadline (other than no longer being guaranteed a gift), but no-shows and incompletes at the deadline may receive a one-year ban.

We hope everyone is having fun working on their iddy creations! Once you've posted yours, please consider picking up a pinch hit or making a treat for a pinch hitter. Thanks for helping us to stick to our schedule and get everyone their tasty iddy treats on time.

There is still one single-fandom pinch hit open. If you know someone who might be interested in creating work for แค่เพื่อนครับเพื่อน | Bad Buddy: the Series (TV), please point them to our pinch hit post. We won't hold collection opening for this, but we would love to find a creator for it so that everyone who participated gets a gift.

We're grateful to every pinch hitter, and encourage treats for pinch hitters who didn't sign up. Treats for other participants are welcome too. The collection will remain open for treating after works are revealed.

The original deadline for assignments and most pinch hits is today, March 11, at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. Convert this to your local time zone here. Your deadline is in your assignment email. If you're not sure what your deadline is, please email idficmod@gmail.com.

If you need an extension, please email idficmod@gmail.com with:

- your AO3 handle
- your recipient's AO3 handle
- your requested deadline

Please don't explain why you need the extension. We understand that life happens, and we trust you to assess your situation and figure out what you need. At this time, we're automatically approving all extension requests up to March 18. If you think you'll need longer than that, ask and we can discuss it.

The most important thing is to request the extension before the deadline. (As long as your request hits our inbox before 11:59 p.m., you're good.) If the deadline passes and you have not submitted a complete work or requested an extension, you will be defaulted.

Please keep your work in draft status until it's complete. Posting an incomplete work clogs the moderation queue, which is filling up quickly with works that need approval. If you post a work that appears to be incomplete, we'll email you if we're able to, but once the big rush of works comes in at the deadline, we'll begin rejecting incomplete works and defaulting their creators.

We will approve works with placeholder titles, no tags, no summaries, etc. Please check your work before reveals to make sure everything is as it should be.

Repeating these reminders from the previous admin post:

The collection is moderated. Your work will stay in the moderation queue until a mod is available to approve it; don't worry if this takes a few days. A mod will contact you directly, using the email address on your AO3 account, if there are any concerns about your work. Turning your work in before the deadline will help us keep the queue flowing smoothly.

We're checking works for obvious problems (content doesn't match tags, assignment fill is under the minimum length) but not for DNWs. It's your responsibility to make sure you're fulfilling a requested combination of ship + freeform and have not included DNWs in your work. Please check your recipient's requests closely. If you have questions for a recipient about an unclear DNW or an edge case, please email the mods at idficmod@gmail.com and we'll pass them along.

Please consider picking up a pinch hit, or promoting pinch hits in fandom-specific servers. Make sure to note that the fic minimum is 2000 words instead of the usual 1000. We recommend linking to the pinch hits tag rather than an individual post, so the most current information is displayed. We're grateful to every pinch hitter, and encourage treats for pinch hitters who didn't sign up.
